A woman from Yekaterinburg was forced to pay a schoolboy's bus fare.

Apparently, not all bus drivers in Yekaterinburg have learned the new rules for transporting children. Recall that since September 1 schoolchildren under 18 can ride public transport for free. Nevertheless, a resident of the Ural capital was forced to buy a ticket for her ninth-grade son.

It all happened yesterday, September 2, on bus No. 74. Elena was traveling with her son, a pupil at one of the local schools. There was no conductor on the vehicle; the driver was collecting fares. The passenger asked him if she really needed to pay for two tickets.

"The driver said that schoolchildren only rode for free on September 1," the Sverdlovsk resident told the portal E1.RU.

She did not argue and decided to pay. She wanted to pay via the QR code, but getting to it through the crowded cabin at rush hour was impossible. In the end she paid 66 rubles for the trip.

The press service of the Yekaterinburg mayor's office said the driver was clearly at fault.

"An incident occurred in which the driver of a private carrier demanded payment for a schoolboy's ride. Additional briefings will be held with this driver and with the carrier's entire staff. We will refund the fare," the city administration noted.

Earlier we reported that in Yekaterinburg a conductor forced a schoolboy off a tram despite free travel.
