Residents of Sverdlovsk were mass-poisoned at their own wedding.

      In Yekaterinburg, after a wedding at a cottage, a whole group of guests ended up in hospital beds. The celebration took place on August 29 at Olymp Hall on Chkalova Street, 66a.

      There were many adults and children at the party. But already the next day many attendees fell ill: according to one of the victims, 15 people were poisoned, including three children. Adults were taken to City Hospital No. 40, and the children were sent to hospitals No. 15 and No. 9. In most cases doctors diagnosed norovirus infection.

      According to a wedding guest, the catering was organized by Olymp Hall itself: they were responsible for the banquet and the service. Seven people were hospitalized in serious condition, the rest are being treated at home under medical supervision. "They refunded part of the money for the banquet, but they don’t admit guilt and even asked us at the hospitals not to indicate where exactly we celebrated," the woman said.

      The diagnosis was documented for one of the teenage girls — norovirus infection. This disease is especially dangerous for children: it is accompanied by severe vomiting and diarrhea, temperature spikes, low blood pressure and a rapid pulse. All this quickly leads to dehydration. The virus is transmitted through dirty hands and food.

      The wedding guests did not hide the source of the food and told doctors all the details.

      Olymp Hall, however, claim they only learned about the situation two days later. They believe that people could have been infected elsewhere. "No one at our place got sick. We buy food at Magnit and Pyaterochka; all the packaging with dates has been kept. There is nothing to check," venue representatives said.

      The E1.RU editorial office contacted Rospotrebnadzor for comment, where they promised to give an official response later.
