In Kamensk-Uralsky the prosecutor’s office has launched an inquiry following a media report about two teenagers desecrating a symbol of military glory.
According to media reports, the incident occurred on the evening of September 11. Two girls, while at the Memorial to the Worker-Soldiers of one of Kamensk-Uralsky’s plants, laughing loudly, roasted marshmallows on the Eternal Flame. The children then posted the video online themselves.
At present, the circumstances of the incident and the identities of the teenagers and their legal representatives are being established, the Sverdlovsk Region prosecutor’s office reports.
“An assessment will be made of both the actions of the minors’ legal representatives and of the prevention system authorities with regard to the completeness and adequacy of measures aimed at preventing and suppressing juvenile offenses. If there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken,” the supervisory body said.
Earlier this week it emerged that a memorial in one of the district centers of the neighboring Chelyabinsk Region had been desecrated. There, vandals threw raw eggs onto the hot metal of the Eternal Flame.
