Scammers have devised yet another scheme targeting Russians' real estate.
Scammers have come up with a new scheme. Now fraudsters posing as Rosreestr employees are trying to gain access to citizens' data and money. The agency's press service reported this.
The perpetrators use various methods: they call, send emails, or message via instant messengers. Scammers tell victims about alleged transactions involving their property.
"Their aim is to cause panic and force the person to immediately contact 'support' at the phone number provided in the message," the portal E1.RU cites the press service as saying.
If the victim takes the bait, a "consultant" contacts them. He tries to obtain confidential information or to coerce the person into transferring money to cancel non-existent transactions.
"It is important to remember that Rosreestr does not contact citizens via SMS, messaging apps, or email with offers to follow links or to call back on a phone number," the agency clarified.
Rosreestr may indeed email or call a citizen, but only to inform them about the status of a service being provided and its results.
Earlier we reported that fraudsters continue to test the new scheme on residents of Yekaterinburg.
