Some residents of Sverdlovsk may not be able to go abroad.
Residents of the Sverdlovsk Region who are behind on utility payments for more than six months and have accumulated debts of over 10,000 rubles risk being barred from traveling abroad. This was reported by the press service of the company "Energosbyt T Plus." As of early September the organization had sent more than 24,000 enforcement documents to recover debts for heat and power supply.
"If the debt exceeds six months and amounts to more than 10,000 rubles, we go to court. After a decision is issued, the enforcement document is sent electronically to the bailiffs. They can freeze accounts, seize property, restrict travel abroad and apply other enforcement measures," the company's press service explained.
According to "Energosbyt T Plus," as of September 1 some 13,004 enforcement documents had been issued in the region for thermal energy debts totaling about 260 million rubles and 11,625 for electricity debts totaling around 119 million rubles.
Moreover, from September 2024 the cost of court proceedings for debtors has increased. Now, when debts are recovered through the courts they are required to pay not only the debt but also higher court costs. Under the new federal law, the state fee has risen tenfold: when filing a claim — from 400 to 4,000 rubles, and when applying for a court order — from 200 to 2,000 rubles.
