From January 1, 2026, the minimum wage in Russia will increase by more than 20% to 27,093 rubles. This was announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a government meeting, RIA Novosti reports.
The increase in the minimum wage will affect the incomes of about 4.5 million Russians; the measure will be one of the steps to raise wages in the country. Mishustin stressed that the indexing of the minimum wage will continue going forward.
Thus, from January 1, 2026, the minimum sick leave benefit for caring for a child will be at least 27,000 rubles per month — the amount is tied to the new minimum wage. For children under seven, the benefit will be paid at 100% regardless of the parents' employment history. The maximum amounts of sick leave and maternity payments will increase due to a change in the base for calculating insurance contributions, EAN clarifies.
