According to the SHOT channel, the man was hospitalized with severe burns to his hands. He said he managed to light a fire and that he sustained the burns while waving hot logs to ward off wolves.
Recall that the 43-year-old man from Yekaterinburg went out to collect cones with a group on September 18, but fell behind the group and became lost in the forest.
His condition is assessed as moderate.
The press secretary of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Region, Valeriy Gorelykh, commented on the situation as follows:
— The citizen in question was able to make his own way out of the taiga to a road. He refused hospitalization despite his emaciated condition. All ten fingers on his hands are badly burned. He told a police officer that he injured his hands while using fire to fend off wild animals. Representatives of the Interior Ministry are now verifying how accurate this information is. At present the man and his wife are staying in a hotel, from where they plan to leave shortly for their home in Yekaterinburg. Search operations by the police and volunteers have been called off.
The man from Yekaterinburg disappeared without a trace in the area of the Konzhak summit.
