People armed with a gun attacked a guarded scrap metal collection point in Nizhniye Sergi.

      A shooting with a shotgun took place this week in Nizhniye Sergi. Two robbers armed with a shotgun raided a scrap metal collection point. The incident was confirmed to E1.RU by the regional directorates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee of Russia.

      The armed attack occurred on the night of September 24. The site’s guard was not injured: the shot hit the door lock behind which he had managed to shelter, E1.RU reports. Two residents of the Urals, aged 37 and 50, with no prior convictions, have been detained on suspicion of the attack.

      “One of them fired a hunting shotgun at the area of the door lock, but they were unable to get inside. The scrap metal receiver was not injured because he managed to close the door behind him and take shelter inside the facility,” the regional Investigative Committee said. “After the failed attempt to steal money, the accomplices fled the scene.”

      One of the attackers was caught right near his home; the second tried to leave by bus for Yekaterinburg to go to a female acquaintance. The attackers have pleaded guilty. They have already been charged under Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Robbery committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with the use of weapons,” and are in custody.

      “During a search of the residence of one of the accomplices, three pieces of unregistered firearms were found, including the ‘gun’ that was allegedly used to carry out this robbery attack,” Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Sverdlovsk Region, told E1.RU. “They were seized and designated by investigators as physical evidence.”

      The suspects are currently being checked for involvement in other similar crimes.
