Three children were taken to hospital after a fire that broke out the previous afternoon in the VTUZ housing estate in Yekaterinburg.
A report of a fire in a four-story residential building on Kominterna Street was received by Yekaterinburg’s fire and rescue service on Sunday afternoon. An apartment on the second floor burned over an area of 20 square meters.
Twenty people evacuated themselves from the burning building before fire units arrived; ten people were rescued by firefighters using rescue equipment, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sverdlovsk Region said.
As a result of the fire, three children suffered smoke inhalation and were hospitalized. Fire investigators will determine the cause of the fire.
UPDATE: “According to updated information, one 10-year-old child was injured as a result of the fire,” the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
