The appeal against the sentence of Yekaterinburg teacher Perminov "got lost" in the "Akadema" courts.
An appeal against the sentence of physics teacher Sergey Perminov, who was dismissed from School No. 134 after an altercation with an eighth-grader, has been lost in the magistrates’ court of the Akademichesky District of Yekaterinburg. This was reported by the EAN agency, citing Perminov’s lawyer.
The defense of the convicted teacher filed an appeal on September 23 with Judicial Precinct No. 1 of the Akademichesky Judicial District of Yekaterinburg, where the sentence was handed down. The magistrates’ court is supposed to forward the appeal to the district court. But, as the convicted teacher’s lawyer Ivan Chukshis told EAN, a hearing date still has not been set, even though a week has already passed.
Sverdlovsk Region human rights commissioner Tatyana Merzlyakova informed her colleagues on the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights about the situation. The ombudsperson spoke in support of the teacher. The Public Council under the Russian Ministry of Education has also taken the matter under its control. They believe the teacher alone is not to blame for what happened.
Meanwhile new details have emerged. It has become known that the prosecutor’s office demanded the teacher’s dismissal. According to the school principal, Olga Starikova, after the incident she provided all the information to the commission on juvenile affairs and to the police, EAN reports. From there the materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office, which took the case to court and demanded the teacher’s dismissal.
