A new road for buses will be built in Yekaterinburg.
The mayor’s office has submitted for public discussion a plan to create a bus loop in the Yelizavet microdistrict. The new transport hub is planned to be located next to the Keramik railway station, where commuter trains arrive, E1.RU reports.
Currently the stops are located only on the Selkorovskaya Street side; the project envisages routing bus services to the station from the Bisertskaya Street side. To do this, the section of road from Kolkhoznikov Street to Keramik station will need to be upgraded: there is a roadway there now, but it is narrow and heavily worn. In addition, reconstruction is planned for part of Zvonkogo Lane, which vehicles will use to access Bisertskaya Street. All new roads will be 7 meters wide — one traffic lane in each direction of 3.5 meters.
The project also includes:
— construction of sidewalks 2.5–3.5 m wide along the roadway;
— construction of shared bicycle and pedestrian paths 3.2–4.5 m wide;
— installation of bicycle parking at Keramik station.
Specific implementation dates have not yet been determined. It is known only that the access road to the Keramik railway station is recorded in Yekaterinburg’s General Plan through 2045, and that the project itself will become part of the comprehensive development of the city’s transport system.
