Yekaterinburg authorities will amend the master plan to accommodate a tram to Novokoltsovsky and an above-ground metro.
A new model for the development of transport infrastructure will be developed in Yekaterinburg. This was stated by Sergey Shutov, deputy head of the "Master Plan Workshop."
"We are making changes to the master plan. After that a new program for the development of transport infrastructure will be required; it will be prepared based on what was done earlier. First of all, it is necessary to model the southwest route of the above‑ground metro that the Russian Railways administration has been talking about recently. Previously, a ring around Yekaterinburg was not planned," the EAN publication quotes Shutov as saying.
The new program will also include other transport infrastructure projects, including a tram line to the Novokoltsovsky microdistrict. According to the official, transport models for Yekaterinburg have previously been developed three times: in 2011–14, 2017–18 and 2018–24.
Earlier it was reported that a new road for buses will be built in Yekaterinburg.
