Designer Artemy Lebedev arrived in Yekaterinburg and identified an important criterion for a city park.

      In Yekaterinburg, the well-known designer, blogger and entrepreneur Artemy Lebedev gave a lecture. His invitation to the 100+ TechnoBuild forum was organized by the company Prinzip, which presented the project for the city's future main park.

      The new park will combine the territory of Kharitonovsky Garden, the Church on the Blood and the Dynamo Stadium. Implementation is planned to be completed by 2030. The project provides for the reconstruction and improvement of Kharitonovsky Garden, landscaping, the creation of sports and children's playgrounds, as well as the arrangement of a roadway by the City Pond next to the KKT "Kosmos." The total area of the green zone will be about 20 hectares.

      Artemy Lebedev noted that uniting existing spaces is a serious and large-scale job:

      — The main advantage is that nothing will have to be demolished here. There are already good areas that can be connected by slightly changing the road network and placing emphasis on pedestrian zones, — "KP Yekaterinburg" quotes Lebedev.

      He paid special attention to the issue of safety in parks. As an example, Lebedev cited Moscow's Zaryadye Park, where visitors feel so free that even the most unexpected displays of behavior are not perceived as emergencies. In his words, this is an indicator of trust and comfort that should be aimed for when creating public spaces. There a couple had sex right in the park.

      — That means people feel so good and so safe that they gave themselves over to the most natural act in the world. And they were not punished for it. In Moscow they managed to make a place that fits people as closely as possible, and they felt at home there. So this is a kind of ideal to strive for. If people haven't started making love in the park yet — you don't really have a park.

      The designer also touched on another important human need — the possibility of sleeping in public places. In his opinion, sleeping in parks should be safe, and modern Russian parks should be places where a person feels as comfortable and protected as possible.
