According to the Telegram channel Babr Mash, a severe crush occurred at Irkutsk School No. 19 after classes were shortened due to a lack of food.
"According to students and their parents, about a thousand children from six parallel classes left their classrooms at the same time — a crowd formed. Many fell — sustained injuries: preliminarily, someone even broke an arm. Phones were also broken and a locker was overturned. Moreover, nobody was controlling the situation — neither the security, nor the administration, nor the teachers," writes Babr Mash.
The Irkutsk Region prosecutor's office told TASS that, following the results of an inspection, a submission was filed with the Department of Education of the Committee for Social Policy and Culture of the city administration in connection with "the failure to take proper measures to ensure the safe presence of minors in the educational institution."
The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Irkutsk Region told TASS that a criminal case has been opened. At the same time, the investigative department clarified that there is no information about injured pupils.
"A case under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence) has been opened; we are investigating," the agency's interlocutor said.
