It has emerged why a repeat offender in Yekaterinburg killed a nurse.
Information has emerged about a possible motive for the brutal murder of Yekaterinburg palliative care nurse Yevgenia Shalaginova. According to preliminary reports, the attacker may have demanded that the woman hand over painkillers containing narcotic substances.
Recall, the tragedy occurred in Yevgenia’s room, where she was stabbed to death by a new dormitory neighbor — Sergey. According to residents, shortly before the attack the man showed signs of drug withdrawal, which likely provoked the aggression.
“Yevgenia helped cancer patients, administering injections of powerful painkillers that are strictly controlled. The neighbor likely learned of her access to such drugs and demanded that she give them up. After she refused, he attacked her with a knife. This is the most likely motive,” the deceased’s acquaintances told E1.RU.
Yevgenia’s relatives denied rumors of a domestic dispute over alcohol.
“There was no drinking — no bottles, no traces. That day she was getting ready for her shift. Neighbor Sasha saw her in the morning: they drank coffee together, after which he went to work. Yevgenia rested briefly and was preparing to leave at seven in the evening. But this Sergey burst in on her — in a state of drug, not alcohol, intoxication,” the deceased’s sister, Elena, told E1.RU.
The management of the medical institution where Yevgenia worked provided assistance to the family and covered part of the funeral expenses.
Colleagues and neighbors remember the woman as kind, compassionate and decent — at the dormitory on Agronomicheskaya 6a she was respected and valued.
