Ural customs officers discovered rare chest badges in a parcel from Germany (PHOTO)
A parcel containing rare items arrived from Germany to a resident of Verkhnyaya Pyshma, but the addressee may not receive it because he violated the law.
Officers of the Ural Operational Customs detected nine items of cultural value in an international mail shipment from Germany. These include, in particular, old newspapers, photographs, albums, eight medals and a badge.
The officers of the Ural Operational Customs were concerned whether the items had legally crossed Russia’s customs border.
Experts determined that the medals and the badge constitute cultural property and relate to phaleristics (a historical discipline that emerged from numismatics — note Uralweb), the press service of the Ural Customs Administration reported. Such goods are subject to customs declaration with the submission of permit documents.
An administrative offense case has been initiated against the parcel’s recipient under Part 1 of Article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure to declare or inaccurate declaration of goods). The offender faces a fine with possible confiscation of the goods.
