Doubled at once! The cap on heating tariffs in Yekaterinburg will be sharply raised
From December 1, 2025, the maximum cost of thermal energy in Yekaterinburg could nearly double. The Regional Energy Commission (REC) has published a draft resolution on the city's transition to the heat-supply pricing zone.
Thus, the indicative ceiling price for thermal energy for households is proposed to be set at 4,700 rubles per gigacalorie (instead of 2,800 rubles now). The specific tariff will be set by the authorities, and from January 1, 2026, prices will be changed by a separate resolution.
The REC said that this is not the final tariff but only the maximum possible threshold used in price calculations.
"This is not the tariff that will be applied in bills for thermal energy, but the maximum possible price level necessary for the formation of investment programs and for attracting funds to develop infrastructure," the Department of Information Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region said in an explanatory note.
However, experts warn that in the long term the new model could lead to higher payments, writes the EAN publication.
Earlier it was reported that the Sverdlovsk Region officially raised the amount of the contribution to the major repairs fund.
