Mayor Orlov explained whether the Yekaterinburg Arena will keep its 'ears'.
The Yekaterinburg-Arena stadium has made it onto the list of the world’s most unusual sports venues. The reason for such attention is its famous “ears” — temporary stands that protrude beyond the main outline of the arena.
The E1.RU portal asked Yekaterinburg’s mayor, Alexey Orlov, whether anything is planned to be changed in the structure in the future. The city’s head noted that these elements have already become a sort of calling card of the Ural capital.
“Yes, originally these were temporary stands that were supposed to be dismantled after the World Cup and the contour closed. But the stadium is owned by the region, so the decision is not within my competence. The structure, of course, looks unusual, but the facility is in demand, and locals gladly come there,” Orlov said.
