      The driver responsible for the traffic accident in Revda, who fatally struck two little sisters at a traffic light, has been placed in a temporary detention facility (IVS), KP-Yekaterinburg reports. Earlier reports that he had allegedly sustained serious injuries were not confirmed.

      — The drunk reckless driver has been detained; after receiving medical care at the Revda hospital he did not require hospitalization, — said the official representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region, Valery Gorelykh. — He has been taken into custody and placed in an IVS cell.

      The conducted examination confirmed that the 37-year-old driver was in an incoherent state. The detected alcohol concentration was 0.753 mg/L, Colonel Gorelykh said.

      A video appeared on social media showing the man conscious but not understanding what was happening and speaking incoherently, writes KP-Yekaterinburg.

      After striking the pedestrians — three girls aged 7, 9 and 11 — the car continued driving and struck a building. Behind the wheel of the VAZ-2112 was Revda native Mikhail, born in 1988, who had no prior convictions. “He is currently in intensive care,” the official representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region, Valery Gorelykh, clarified.

      A criminal case has been opened under Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles that negligently caused the death of two persons, committed by a person in a state of intoxication).
