Media: The Yekaterinburg resident who died after playing hockey had a heart defect.
A resident of Yekaterinburg, Alexander Krasovsky, who suddenly died after a hockey match, had a congenital heart defect and regularly underwent checkups. Colleagues of the deceased told URA.RU about this.
The 39-year-old man worked as commercial director at the wholesale-retail company Restoranika. Colleagues knew that Alexander had had a congenital heart defect since childhood, but not in a severe form. He was simply monitored by doctors and lived a normal life, coworkers said.
"Hockey was his hobby, it was just a team of grown men getting together and playing. He regularly underwent heart examinations by doctors; they did not forbid him from playing sports," Krasovsky's colleagues told URA.RU.
The incident was a major blow to his family. His wife Irina told URA.RU that on the day of the game her husband felt fine.
"Nothing foreshadowed trouble, there were many plans. I'm not a medical professional, I don't know what could have provoked it, and we do not yet have the expert report. By some signs the doctors determined that Sasha had suffered a heart attack. For us, the family, this was news; he may have had it while on his feet," the wife suggested.
Earlier, footage appeared of the moment in the match when, it is reported, during a forceful play a hockey player struck his chest hard against the rink's boards.
