Meteorologists said how long the thaw in Yekaterinburg will last.
A large cyclone centered over the Barents Sea will determine the weather in the Urals in the coming week, the Sverdlovsk Hydrometeorological Center said on Friday on its Telegram channel.
The warmth that today has covered the entire eastern part of European Russia and is spreading to the Urals has brought a strong southwesterly wind. As a result, light snow showers have turned into rain.
On Saturday, November 15, the thaw will melt away the remaining snow cover in the southern part of the region, the Ural UGM forecasts.
Sverdlovsk Oblast will remain under the influence of the cyclone until the end of the second ten-day period. "The southwesterly airflow will persist and there are no concerns about a serious cold snap," forecasters say.
On Sunday, November 16, a brief drop to sub-zero temperatures is expected. In the north of the region there will be rain turning to snow.
In Yekaterinburg on Saturday, November 15, daytime temperatures are expected to reach +7 °C, with no significant precipitation. The nighttime temperature will remain above freezing (+2 °C). On Sunday, November 16, the Ural capital will cool to +3 °C, with a significant drop in nighttime temperatures to −6 °C. On Monday, November 17, 0 °C is forecast in Yekaterinburg.
