Speaker of the Yekaterinburg City Duma Anna Gurariy said there is a need to introduce mandatory verification for e-scooter users. She made the statement at the roundtable “Legislative regulation of the use of personal mobility devices in Russia: problems and prospects” in the Federation Council.
Gurariy noted that a great many people use electric scooters to travel from home to work and back, so bans cannot be seen as a way to solve the problem of accidents.
“Many people are employed by delivery services. Therefore I support regulating the sector as a whole. The speech by a representative of the Moscow Department of Transport drew attention; she confirmed that mandatory identification in Moscow has reduced accidents and contributes to the formation of a culture of mobility,” the EAN outlet quotes Anna Gurariy as saying.
