Yekaterinburg native Leya Garifullina, as part of the Russian national team, won the Women's World Team Championship in Linares. Notably, the Russian athletes did not lose a single match throughout the tournament, said Andrey Filatov, president of the Russian Chess Federation.
"Victory at the World Team Championship without a single match defeat is a huge achievement of our athletes and coaching staff, and also a testament to our strength. The squad includes several athletes from across Russia: Alexandra Goryachkina, Ekaterina Lagno, Polina Shuvalova, Anna Shukhman, Olga Girya and Yekaterinburg native Leya Garifullina.
