New details have emerged in the case of the Yekaterinburg teacher who strangled his students.

In the case of 33-year-old Artyom Vaganov from Yekaterinburg, a balalaika teacher who was strangling his students, victims have emerged. Initially the parents of the children who were subjected to the "breath test" did not contact law enforcement.

"The Investigative Committee is working; some of the victims have been identified. Initially there were none, because the criminal case against Vaganov was opened on the basis of the discovery of a video," lawyer Artyom Konoplev told KP-Yekaterinburg.

Recall that a video appeared on social media showing the balalaika player holding a bag over a teenager's head. It later turned out that Vaganov called this a "breath test" and offered it to his students for money. He charged between 20,000 and 60,000 rubles. He even took out loans to do it.

According to KP-Yekaterinburg, Vaganov taught at School No. 17 for about five years and was the leader of the ensemble. This summer rumors about the "work" began circulating among the students.

"He invited students to his home, offering to check or repair school equipment, calling it work. In his apartment he offered the 'breath test.' Teenagers usually went to him in groups; some agreed, others simply watched. He could keep the bag on someone's head for about half an hour. He stripped one of the students down to his underwear and wrapped him in tape," one student told the media.

According to him, over time Vaganov became more aggressive.

"He began to threaten some people with a knife — those who stayed at his apartment for too long. When rumors started that Vaganov was involved in such things, he began writing on social media, threatening with a pistol. The pistol turned out to be a toy," the publication's source added.

A criminal case was opened against Vaganov under the article "Involving a minor in the commission of acts that pose a danger to life," and some time later investigators brought another charge — attempted murder of minors.

Recall that on November 19 Vaganov was sent to pretrial detention for two months. The regional Investigative Committee noted that he will undergo a psychological and psychiatric examination.
