Sverdlovsk authorities have decided to sell a 50% stake in FC Ural.
Governor Denis Pasler commented at a press conference on plans to privatize 50% of FC Ural’s shares. At present, 100% of the club’s shares belong to the government of Sverdlovsk Oblast.
Pasler noted that selling part of the club into private hands would bring stability to the budget: it would provide additional funding for infrastructure modernization, strengthening the material and technical base, and increasing the team’s competitiveness, reports the Telegram channel “Lampa.”
Recall that FC Ural in 2024 was relegated from the Premier League (RPL) to the second division (Football National League) and, after one season, failed to return to the RPL.
After the relegation from the top Russian league, the Sverdlovsk Oblast Minister of Sports Leonid Rapoport jokingly threatened the club with “execution” if they did not fulfill the task of returning from the FNL to the RPL.
A chance to return arose this summer after the scandal involving Moscow’s Torpedo, which lost its place in the RPL, but the Russian Football Union decided that its spot would be taken by Orenburg, not Ural.
