Scammers convinced a young man from Sverdlovsk to go to Sakhalin.
A missing 20-year-old resident of Kamensk-Uralsky was found on Sakhalin. He had been forced to go there by scammers, the site "MVD-Media" reports.
According to the police, unknown callers who identified themselves as delivery service employees phoned the young man’s mobile. Under the pretext of confirming his identity they asked for the code from an SMS message, which he gave them.
Some time later, "law enforcement officers" contacted the victim via a messenger. They accused him of providing financial assistance to Ukraine’s armed formations. The fraudsters then extorted about 230,000 rubles from him, and after receiving the money they demanded that he stop communicating with his relatives and come to Sakhalin. The young man went there.
His father reported the youth’s disappearance to the police. He was declared missing. Soon his car was found at Yekaterinburg airport. With the help of police and volunteers, the missing man’s father found out that his son had flown to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, so he set off after him. Upon arrival he contacted the local police. The young man was found.
Earlier we reported how in Yekaterinburg a 20-year-old cashier transferred the cash from the register to scammers while "saving" the store’s money.
