A Sverdlovsk resident hid a corpse in a basement for 14 years.
In Berezovsky, 41-year-old resident of the settlement of Prishchanovo Rustam Kadyrov was sentenced to 16 years in a strict‑regime penal colony. He killed an acquaintance and dumped her body in the basement of a farm. The deceased was found only 14 years later.
"On February 13, 2011, a conflict arose between the convicted man and the victim while they were traveling in a Škoda Octavia on the road between Berezovsky and the settlement of Staropyshminsk; a mutual acquaintance who was also in the car witnessed the incident," the press service of the Sverdlovsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office reported.
The man stopped the car and demanded that the woman get out of the vehicle. He then struck the woman several times on the head with his hands and feet, causing her death. Trying to conceal the crime, the convicted man took the body to Prishchanovo and dumped it in the basement of a farm, blocking the entrance with construction debris.
"The location of the woman's corpse was discovered 14 years later during work being carried out on the premises of the farm. A molecular genetic examination established that the discovered remains belonged to the victim," the agency clarified.
The Berezovsky City Court sentenced Kadyrov to 16 years in a strict‑regime penal colony.
Earlier in Yekaterinburg a woman's body was found beneath the windows of a high‑rise building.
