      An explosion occurred at a furniture factory in Nizhny Tagil. One person died due to the collapse of the boiler-house wall. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sverdlovsk Region.

      According to the agency, it all happened at around 17:00 at 2 Trikotazhnikov Street, where ZAO "Nizhnetagilskaya Furniture Factory" is located. The fire broke out due to the explosion of a solid-fuel boiler. Thirteen special vehicles and 42 people are working at the scene.

      Later, the Sverdlovsk prosecutor's office clarified that a 60-year-old stoker died as a result of the explosion. The second stoker left the building some time before the incident. The agency noted that the body was found on the premises of the woodworking enterprise LLC "Technopark."

      The press secretary of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region, Valeriy Gorelykh, said that "a powerful bang followed by ignition and the destruction of a small technical building occurred on the territory of the industrial zone of a commercial enterprise whose activities are related to woodworking."

      According to him, residential buildings are located at a great distance from the site of the explosion. The incident did not affect the heating of residents' apartments. The damaged boiler-house heated only the company's warehouse premises. Police officers quickly identified the deceased worker — he was a local resident, Sergey, born in 1966.

      "When steam suddenly rushed out of the pipe, he went outside to report the critical situation to management by phone. There was an explosion at the moment of the call. Stoker Sergey, finding himself under heavy debris, died from his injuries. Gas is not supplied to the enterprise. They heated with wood and briquettes. The theory that the incident was caused by intentional criminal action at the site is unlikely," Colonel Gorelykh said.
