Security forces are conducting searches at UrFU.
Law enforcement officers are conducting searches at Ural Federal University (UrFU). Some employees are suspected of schemes involving federal real estate that belongs to the property complex of the Ural Federal University, as well as illegal transfer of funds, a source told 66.RU.
Law enforcement officers came to the offices of the university president Viktor Koksharov, first vice‑rector Daniil Sandler, chief accountant Gavriil Agarkov and UrFU employee Mikhail Zhabreev to conduct searches. None of them have been detained so far. The searches are being carried out in their presence.
The outlet writes that “people in masks” are operating inside the building, staff are afraid to leave their offices and are “in a panic.” The university press service has already confirmed that law enforcement is conducting an investigation.
According to an insider, the searches were prompted by an inspection carried out in the summer at the initiative of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Valery Falkov. According to several sources, the case concerns “unnoticeable real estate” — floors in dormitories and land plots. University employees may also be suspected of siphoning off money under the pretext of salary payments.
Earlier, Sverdlovsk police disrupted a fraudulent scheme for obtaining state subsidies.
