Yulian Semyonov's biographer has published a second volume about where the writer got his prototypes.
Historian and biographer of the famous Soviet writer Yulian Semyonov, Alexey Repin, has published the second volume of his own book dedicated to the life and work of the celebrated author. The EAN agency reports this.
The second volume of the fundamental biography has been released. The first is titled “Yulian Semyonov. From Vitkevich to Stierlitz,” the second — “Yulian Semyonov. Detective and Politics.”
The life and work of the writer are described by Semyonov’s biographer on the basis of little-known documentary materials and testimonies.
The first volume tells where the characters of the cult novel “Seventeen Moments of Spring” and the novella “The Diplomatic Agent” came from. The new edition covers the period from 1955 to 1985, when Semyonov wrote his best-known works — “Petrovka, 38,” “TASS Is Authorized to Declare,” “Confrontation.”
The book was published by the Orenburg book publishing house; the first volume of the writer’s biography was presented there a year ago, EAN reports.
Recently interest in Yulian Semyonov’s work, which had already not waned, has surged. The renaissance of the writer’s works is due both to the new 2024 screen adaptation of his novel “Confrontation” and to the resonance between the times and events Semyonov wrote about and the present day.
