In the Urals, a woman will stand trial for stealing 7.5 million rubles from the account of the father of a deceased participant in the special military operation.

A criminal case alleging the theft of more than 7.5 million rubles from the bank account of the father of a deceased participant in the special military operation has been sent to court in Nizhny Tagil, the Sverdlovsk Region prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.

The indictment under paragraph “b” of part 4 of Article 158 of the Russian Criminal Code (theft from a bank account, on a particularly large scale) was approved by the prosecutor’s office against a local resident born in 1986.

According to the investigation, the 38-year-old unemployed woman, who had a prior conviction, between October 2024 and February 2025 stole funds from the bank account of a disabled man for whom she had been providing care since October 2024.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, is disabled due to a musculoskeletal disorder and therefore cannot fully care for himself or leave his apartment.

He hired an acquaintance for pay to help him. Trusting the defendant, the victim handed her his bank card to pay for groceries.

Following the death of his son in spring 2024 in the area of the special military operation, significant sums were transferred to the victim’s bank account by the state.

Having access to the disabled man’s bank card, the woman repeatedly transferred money from it to her own bank account. In addition, she used the victim’s money to buy furniture, household appliances, and jewelry for herself.

In total, the defendant stole more than 7.5 million rubles from the victim’s bank account. The woman has denied guilt.

The criminal case has been sent to the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil for trial on the merits.
