A forensic examination confirmed the death of the former director of Uralkali in Cyprus.
The body of former CEO and ex-chairman of the board of directors of Uralkali, Vladislav Baumgertner, which was found in Cyprus, has been identified following an examination. This was reported by the Cypriot publication Phileleftheros.
"The autopsy was completed on the afternoon of January 15; it was carried out by a foreign forensic medical expert cooperating with the British bases… The body belongs to a 56-year-old Russian businessman who went missing on January 7," writes the Greek media outlet.
Official confirmation of the deceased's identity will be made after DNA test results are received. In the coming days the investigation is awaiting the experts' conclusions, after which the Cyprus police will form the final version of events, RIA Novosti clarifies.
The search operation began on January 11 after Baumgertner’s family and acquaintances reported him missing: the whereabouts of the former Uralkali top manager had been unknown since January 7. The operation involved police, rescue services and volunteers combing areas of Cyprus’s southern coast. The man's body was found by a local resident on January 14 in a coastal area near the village of Avdimou — in the area where the last signal from Baumgertner’s phone was recorded.
