Husband detained in case of Yekaterinburg woman doused with acid
January 14, 2026
Her ex-husband has been detained on suspicion of involvement in the attack on the woman who was doused with acid in Yekaterinburg, an informed source told the outlet KP-Yekaterinburg.
The woman was attacked while she was walking with two children to a parking lot near the residential complex on Vladimir Beloglazov Boulevard. The victim, Alena, said it was an unfamiliar man dressed all in black. The attacker poured a liquid from a beer bottle onto Alena’s head, which turned out to be a highly concentrated acid, and fled. The woman was taken to the burns unit at City Clinical Hospital No. 40 with serious burns.
The victim is convinced that the attempt was organized by her ex-husband Nikolai, whom she left because of domestic violence. The couple lived together for 17 years and have four children. After Alena left, the older son remained living with his father, and the daughters moved with their mother, KP-Yekaterinburg reports.
It became known this afternoon, January 14, that Nikolai has been detained, writes KP-Yekaterinburg.
Alena said that Nikolai had previously threatened her and tried to arrange surveillance. He suspected his wife, an attractive young woman, of infidelity and could very well have hired someone to carry out the attack. Last year some unknown person already tried to pour something on the woman, but she managed to get into a car.
The suspect husband himself, in an earlier conversation with KP-Yekaterinburg, denied all the victim’s accusations. According to his version, the attack could have been organized by Alena’s best friend, with whose husband, Nikolai says, Alena had had an affair.
