The man who attacked a 13-year-old schoolboy on Mount Uktus turned out to be a 38-year-old guide, KP-Ekaterinburg reports. He has already been detained.
According to the preview of his social media page, the suspect in the attack on the teenager, Yakov Shusharin, leads tours around the Urals and rents out alpine skiing equipment.
Before his detention the Ekaterinburger contacted KP-Ekaterinburg and gave his own version of what happened. According to the man, he lunged at the schoolboy because he was afraid for his 4-year-old daughter, whom he and his wife were teaching to ski, and “was in a state of shock.”
“At one point a young man on a snow scooter ran into my wife. I got the impression he did it on purpose because he didn’t even shout for us to move aside,” the man told KP-Ekaterinburg. “I was in a state of shock, so I attacked him. I was very scared for my family.”
At the moment the child beaten by Yakov is in DMB No. 9. According to KP-Ekaterinburg, he has a concussion, a bruised nose, and a fractured rib.
Shusharin’s wife, he said, was also injured, but did not seek medical help. He also stated that he did not know he was hitting a minor and that people were looking for him. After learning about everything from the news, the man turned himself in to the police.
Meanwhile the victim’s mother told KP-Ekaterinburg that the attacker shaved off his mustache after the incident on the mountain, probably to make recognition more difficult.
Yakov Shusharin was detained on January 20. A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 1 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism). The investigation is under the control of the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Sverdlovsk Region.
