The hugely popular route 25 bus is being discontinued in Yekaterinburg.
Bus route No. 25 "Shopping Center 'Mega' — Radiocollege — Vysotskogo — Technopark" will stop running in Yekaterinburg from February 1, the city administration press service reports.
"The bus route will become a trolleybus route as of February 1, because most of its route runs under the trolleybus overhead wires," the mayor's office explained.
To compensate for the elimination of the bus route, bus route No. 84 "Radiocollege — City Hospital No. 7" will be extended from the "Radiocollege" stop to the "Shopping Center 'Mega'" stop, and bus No. 94 "UrFU — TPP" will begin to call at "Technopark" along its route.
The frequency of bus No. 94 will increase, with intervals of 20–32 minutes, the city administration promises.
Bus No. 78 "Shopping Center 'Leroy Merlin' (Bazovy Lane) — Khimmash" will be extended along Bazovy Lane to the "Blue Stones" stop.
In addition, as previously reported, two trolleybus routes will be canceled — No. 25 ("Botanicheskaya — Akademicheskaya") and No. 39 ("Tobacco Factory — Belinskogo").
Trolleybus No. 39 will be replaced by bus No. 51 ("Academician Landau — Elizavet") using extra-large vehicles. The trolleybuses freed up as a result will be reassigned to the new trolleybus route No. 25.
