A Yekaterinburg resident committed suicide after a call from phone scammers.
In Yekaterinburg, a pensioner took her own life after becoming a victim of telephone scammers. According to preliminary data, she was threatened that she allegedly transferred money for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
It all happened on the evening of March 18 in a high-rise building on Reshetnikova Street. The woman transferred more than a million rubles to the fraudsters.
— Unknown individuals were corresponding with the elderly woman. She was threatened. When she gave the money, she was told that she allegedly sent it for the needs of the AFU. The pensioner believed this, left a suicide note where she explained this, — a source told Ura.Ru.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, the scammers continued to message the woman. The body was taken for forensic examination.
The press service of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk region did not comment on this situation.
Earlier, a resident of Yekaterinburg took his own life at the Okrug cemetery.
