On March 20, 2026, a tragic fire occurred on Thursday in Yekaterinburg at Siberian Tract 2, in the electric scooter rental point "Pedal Hard." The kicksharing service was located in the premises of a former weapons store, reports "KP-Yekaterinburg."
The fire started when an employee of the rental point was trying to fix the power supply of the electric scooter. It began to smoke, and the 38-year-old man sprayed a fire extinguisher. But the smoke only increased, and the employee fled, writes "KP-Yekaterinburg."
At that time, 47-year-old Olga Barabash was in the rental point. The woman had come to return the electric scooter that her 16-year-old son had rented. Her husband was waiting for her in the car. When the fire started around 1:40 PM, she was filling out paperwork.
As her brother Sergey recounted, in fear, Olga ran inside the premises. Her husband could no longer help her.
In connection with the tragedy, the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements."
The deceased woman worked as a hairdresser and was a highly skilled professional in her field. The funeral will take place in Olga Barabash's hometown of Orenburg.
