An oncology hospital will be located at the Veterans Affairs Hospital on Shirokaya Rechka in Yekaterinburg.
In the Sverdlovsk region, it is planned to double the capacity of the daytime chemotherapy ward of the regional oncological dispensary. For this purpose, free spaces in the nearby veterans' hospital will be utilized, reports the regional information policy department.
Based on the free spaces of the veterans' hospital clinic, which is within walking distance from the main building of the oncological center, a daytime ward will be established where chemotherapy will be conducted, said the chief physician of the Sverdlovsk Regional Oncological Dispensary (SOOD), Yevgeny Kiselev.
Gradually, builders will renovate all the rooms on the sixth floor and open new wards, each of which will be able to accommodate up to four patients receiving chemotherapy simultaneously.
"This will allow for an increase in the number of patients receiving specialized medical care at the same time. It is impossible to achieve this task in the main building of SOOD due to a lack of space.
With the opening of the daytime ward in the hospital, it is planned to gradually increase the bed capacity from 45 to 90 places," Kiselev explained.
In April, the first wards, reception area, doctor's office, and a centralized chemotherapy drug preparation room with new equipment will begin operating in the areas transferred to the oncological center—four additional laminar flow cabinets are being purchased for drug preparation.
In the Sverdlovsk municipalities, 18 outpatient oncology care centers have been operating for several years, which also have daytime wards for chemotherapy. Their operations will continue as usual.
