Thai doctors did not feed a woman from Yekaterinburg who fell into a coma after having a tooth removed.
29-year-old Ekaterina Panova, who died after complications arising from a tooth extraction in Thailand, will be buried in her hometown of Minusinsk in the Krasnoyarsk region. As her younger sister told "KP-Ekaterinburg," the body will be cremated and transported to Siberia after the autopsy results are received.
The family plans to say goodbye to Ekaterina in Crimea among close relatives, and then hold the funeral in her homeland. According to her sister, preliminary data indicates the girl's severe condition: since March 18, according to medical records, she was no longer given food and water. During transportation to Moscow, Russian doctors supported her condition intravenously, but her body was severely weakened. Already in the capital, Ekaterina's heart stopped twice, and the third stop was fatal.
Ekaterina lived in Yekaterinburg for about ten years, but after her divorce, she moved to Crimea. At the age of 15, she was in an accident and moved around in a wheelchair. In Crimea, she worked as a seamstress and saved up for her first trip abroad.
In January, she went to Thailand for the winter with her sister. However, on February 22, the girl developed an inflamed wisdom tooth. After the extraction at a local clinic, everything initially went well, but on March 8, complications began: she developed a fever, lost consciousness, and was hospitalized in intensive care with suspected blood infection. Ekaterina was on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma, her condition was assessed as critically severe.
On March 19, doctors allowed her transportation to Russia. On March 23, she was transported on a regular flight from Chonburi accompanied by Russian medics. The flight went without complications, but a few days later her condition sharply deteriorated. Ekaterina passed away on the night of March 27.
Relatives thanked everyone who helped raise funds for her treatment and transportation.
