A memorial plaque for Konstantin Arkhipov will be installed on the facade of the administration building of the Lenin District of Yekaterinburg (2 Chernyshevsky Street). The decision was approved by the toponymy commission, the press service of the Yekaterinburg administration reported.
Konstantin Arkhipov was the head of the Lenin District for 23 years and worked in the district administration for over 40 years, starting in 1968. In 1998, he was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Yekaterinburg.
He started as a master, then became a foreman, followed by the chief engineer of the road maintenance department, head of the housing and communal services department of the district executive committee, and deputy chairman of the district executive committee for communal services. This is how he rose to the chairman of the district executive committee, and since 1992 he became the head of the district administration in the new style.
Under his leadership, residential areas such as Moskovskaya Gorka and Krasnolesye were developed, dilapidated and emergency housing was eliminated, 12 kindergartens and 14 schools were built, and a park was created between Chkalova and Gromova Streets.
Konstantin Evgenievich Arkhipov passed away in 2006. A park in the Southwest microdistrict bears his name. A children's art school No. 6, which he helped to revive, is also named in his honor. Graduates of schools who finish their studies with honors are awarded a prize named after him annually.
