In the Sverdlovsk region, due to flooding, villages are cut off from the mainland.
In the Sverdlovsk region, the spring flood continues. According to data as of March 31, two low-water bridges in the Baykalovsky district have been flooded, and another one in the Talitsky urban district was dismantled in advance to avoid damage.
Due to the flood, five settlements remain without road access. Supplies of food and medications have been prepared in advance for the residents, communication has been ensured, and volunteer firefighters with equipment are on duty at the sites. After the ice drift ends, transportation of people by boats and ferries is planned.
Rescuers continue to reduce the risk of blockages: they are sawing the ice and drilling holes. Since the beginning of the work, more than 4.2 km of ice has been sawed, and over 1.2 tons of explosives have been used.
About five thousand people are in the zone of possible flooding, and the flood may affect up to 40 settlements in the region.
