Details of the death of a visitor at a shooting club in Yekaterinburg have become known.
The Kirov District Court of Yekaterinburg has suspended the operations of the "Leon" sports shooting club, where a visitor died last month. The organization has been found guilty of violating firearm circulation rules, which led to serious consequences, reports the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts in Makh.
It was established that on February 21, 2026, during training sessions on practical shooting, club staff, located at 5A Shofyorov Street, handed over a sporting firearm with a rifled barrel and ammunition to a citizen. The 24-year-old man did not have the necessary permits for the storage and carrying of firearms. As a result of a self-inflicted gunshot, the shooter died.
The court found that the club's violation contributed to the occurrence of serious consequences.
"Leon" was found guilty under Article 20.8 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules for the production, sale, storage, or accounting of firearms and ammunition") and was imposed an administrative penalty in the form of a suspension of activities for a period of 25 days.
"The execution of the imposed penalty is subject to immediate enforcement. The ruling has not entered into legal force and can be appealed," the Kirov District Court of Yekaterinburg reported.
Recall that in October 2022, former editor of "RIA Novosti" Svetlana Babaeva tragically died at a training range in Crimea. The 50-year-old woman was engaged in military-sport shooting to qualify "behind the ribbon," writes RBC. The cause of death was a ricochet from a bullet fired, according to various sources, either by Svetlana herself or another participant in the shooting.
