In Karpinsk, a verdict was delivered to the accused in the tragic death of a disabled girl in the Tura River.
The sentence for local resident Natalia Brodovikova, who, along with an acquaintance, assaulted a disabled girl whose body was later found in the Tura River, was handed down by the Karpinsky City Court.
The criminal case against the accused was considered in a closed court session.
As established by the investigation, on the night of May 16 to 17, 2025, the defendant, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, used violence against a 24-year-old girl with a disability in one of the residential buildings in Karpinsk. The defendant struck her and committed sexual acts.
After enduring the abuse and humiliation, the victim took her own life, reports the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts.
The crime caused a significant public outcry.
Brodovikova was charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including paragraph "b" of part 3 of article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Sexual acts of a violent nature that led to other serious consequences through negligence).
The defendant did not admit her guilt.
Taking into account the circumstances of the crime, their nature and degree of public danger, as well as the personality of the offender and the punishment imposed for committing another crime, the Karpinsky City Court sentenced Brodovikova to 9.5 years in a general regime correctional colony with subsequent restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year. In addition, the convicted person was ordered to pay compensation for moral damage in the amount of one million rubles and 80,850 rubles for material damage.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed in the appellate procedure within 15 days.
