Residents of Russia want Cosmonautics Day to become a public holiday and a day off.
Cosmonautics Day should become a public holiday and a non-working day, believe the majority (55%) of Yekaterinburg residents. This was revealed in a survey conducted by SuperJob sociologists. Opponents of this idea are noticeably fewer (23%).
The main argument supporters of the idea cite is the need to emphasize the country's historical achievements in space exploration and appeal to a sense of national pride.
Opponents, however, believe that an extra day off would result in direct economic losses ("Fewer working days means lower wages").
Women vote for an additional day off more often than men (61% versus 50% respectively), and young people under 35 more often than those over 45 (62% versus 44%). Among Yekaterinburg residents with secondary vocational education, supporters of the idea to make April 12 a holiday are more numerous than among those with higher education (65% versus 45%).
Overall, across the country, 56% of respondents approve of the idea, while 24% oppose it. One in five (20%) found it difficult to answer.
The survey was conducted among 1,600 respondents from April 1 to 6, 2026.
Yes. This is our pride; it is important for new generations to remember this.
No, it is enough how it is celebrated today.
I can't say/I don't care/I have a flexible schedule.
