In Nizhny Tagil, a verdict was reached in a high-profile case regarding the beating of a girl by Azerbaijanis near a school
On April 14, 2026, a verdict was delivered in Nizhny Tagil regarding a high-profile criminal case nearly three years old (!) concerning the beating of a girl by two underage Azerbaijanis. The accusation was brought against a local resident—the mother of the brothers.
On that day, December 29, 2023, the accused came to the school to meet her sons, born in 2011 and 2012, after classes. Using a trivial excuse, namely a remark made to her sons about unacceptable behavior, the woman, out of hooligan motives and grossly violating public order, approached their classmate and struck her in the face. The blow was so forceful that the girl, born in 2012, who was standing on the sidewalk, fell. Later, medical professionals diagnosed the child with a closed head injury in the form of a concussion, a hematoma, and facial abrasions. As a result, the victim was hospitalized for inpatient treatment during the New Year holidays (from December 29, 2023, to January 4, 2024). The bodily injuries were later classified as minor harm to health.
The woman’s sons also struck their classmate, who was lying on the ground, with their hands and feet in the abdomen and head. However, regarding the minors, the investigative authorities issued a resolution refusing to initiate a criminal case due to their not reaching the age of criminal responsibility.
The actions of the woman and her sons were stopped by a physical education teacher who rushed to assist the student.
On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Tagilstroy District Court of Nizhny Tagil found the defendant guilty under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism, with the use of violence, by a group of persons) and sentenced her to 1 year of conditional imprisonment, with a probation period of 1 year.
Despite the fact that the woman denied everything during the court session, the state prosecutor presented convincing evidence of her guilt in the crime charged against her.
Additionally, the court satisfied the claims of the legal representative of the victim and ordered the convicted woman to pay 300,000 rubles to the victim as compensation for moral damage. "The prosecutor's office will study the verdict within the 15 days provided by the criminal procedural legislation to determine whether there are grounds for appeal or not," the supervisory agency reported.
It was previously reported that the woman and her sons are natives of Azerbaijan. In 2024, it was also reported that a criminal case was initiated by the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region under other articles—111, 213, and 150 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of serious harm to health; hooliganism; involving a minor in committing a crime).
