Sverdlovsk agrarians are facing multimillion losses due to low milk prices.
The chairman of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Agricultural Policy and Land Relations, Mikhail Kopytov, stated to the EAN publication that the losses of agrarians in the Sverdlovsk region due to the low purchase price of milk in recent months amounted to about 300 million rubles. According to him, the current purchase price for milk is 35 rubles excluding VAT, which is below the production cost. The price collapse occurred due to a large influx of Belarusian milk into the Russian market.
"We have a unified economic space with Belarus, they have the same rights as we do. They are dumping prices, but so are we. It is clear that we lost 300 million, farms are facing difficulties since they always need money and loans," Kopytov was quoted by EAN.
The general director of the "Irbit Dairy Plant," Grigory Bacherikov, added that an additional reason for the low price of milk is the surplus of raw materials in neighboring regions. However, despite the financial difficulties, farms will have enough funds to conduct the sowing. Subsidies for field work from the Sverdlovsk budget are being issued ahead of schedule. From January to March, 600 million was allocated to agrarians. Earlier, we reported that the purchase price of milk in the Urals turned out to be five times lower than the store price.
