It turned out why the resident of Orenburg was wanted, having shot a police officer during his arrest.

      The criminal case against Private Sergey Basalaev, who opened fire on police officers in the Orenburg region, is being investigated by the military investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia, reports the "Sledkom" channel in MAX.

      The man is accused of committing crimes under part 5 of article 337 (desertion during mobilization), article 317 (attempt on the life of law enforcement officers), paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 105 (murder of a person in connection with their official duties or performance of public duty), part 3 of article 30, subparagraphs "a" and "b" of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder).

      According to the investigation, on April 16, 2026, to detain Basalaev, who was on the federal wanted list, police officers arrived at the village of Akkermanovka in the city of Novotroitsk at the location of the suspect.

      During the detention, Basalaev opened fire on the police with a firearm. As a result of his actions, one officer was killed, and three police officers were injured. After committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene, but on April 18, 2026, as a result of coordinated efforts by military investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia, investigators from the territorial division of the Investigative Committee of Russia, special units of the National Guard, and the FSB of Russia in the Orenburg region, as well as operational police officers, the suspect was detained.

      At the request of the military investigator, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for Basalaev. Investigative actions are being conducted to establish all the circumstances of the incident, as well as the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of the crimes.
