Railway workers reported whether the "Victory Train" will arrive in Yekaterinburg this year.
On the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory, the Sverdlovsk Railway is launching a retro train powered by a steam locomotive called "Echelon of Victory," reports the press service of SvZhD.
Sending the museum-exhibition mobile complex "Echelon of Victory" on its journey in May has become a good tradition for SvZhD, said the head of the Sverdlovsk Railway, Pavel Burtsov. This is a tribute to the heroism of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, as well as to many generations of railway workers.
In addition, by spectacularly showcasing the authentic steam-powered train, the "Echelon of Victory" plays an important role in preserving historical heritage. The train will be led by rare locomotives L "Lebedyanka" and P-36 "General." It is their piercing whistles that will announce the arrival of the echelon.
To ensure that as many people as possible can familiarize themselves with the mobile exhibition, the echelon will make stops at 24 stations across five regions, including the Sverdlovsk region. The train will arrive in Yekaterinburg on the morning of May 4.
At the stations where a ceremonial welcome for the echelon will be organized, concerts will take place, and poems and songs about the war will be performed. The historical reconstruction will recreate the atmosphere of the heroic May of 1945, when trains with victorious soldiers were greeted at the country's stations with smiles, flowers, and the sounds of waltzes.
The "Echelon of Victory" will begin its journey on May 1 in Perm, and the final destination will be the city of Gubkinsky (Purpe station, YNAO) on May 22. The schedule for the arrival of the "Echelon of Victory" is available on the SvZhD website.
The retro train features unique cars that were in operation during the years of World War II and in the post-war period: a pharmacy-dressing station, a sanitary checkpoint, a car for the seriously wounded, a bakery, and a kitchen.
In the Victory car, historical photographs capturing the sincere emotions of people who went through the severe trials of war are displayed, while the Memory car contains photographic evidence telling about the contribution of railway workers to the Great Victory.
The exhibitions narrate about military and military-sanitary transportation, the history of the evacuation of industrial enterprises and the population. Historical military equipment is installed on the open platforms.
During the train's stop at the stations, everyone will have the opportunity to enter, explore the cars, listen to the guides' stories, and take memorable photos.
