A resident of Yekaterinburg ordered an employee of the MFC to hack someone else's account on the State Services website.
A resident of Yekaterinburg will be tried for attempting to steal money from the accounts of a resident of Surgut, access to which he obtained by hacking an account on the State Services website. The police of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra report on the outrageous fact of unauthorized access to computer information.
A criminal case has been initiated under two articles - part 2 of article 272 (unauthorized access to computer information) and part 3 of article 30, paragraph "g" of part 3 of article 158 (attempted theft of funds from a bank account) - by an investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Surgut against a 36-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg and a 33-year-old employee of the Multifunctional Center living in Kabardino-Balkaria.
According to the investigation, a native of Kabardino-Balkaria, who worked at the multifunctional center, posted advertisements for paid restoration of access to personal accounts on the State Services website. By receiving passport data, SNILS, and phone numbers of third parties from anonymous clients, he provided access to other people's accounts for a reward of 300 rubles, as reported by "Ъ-Ural."
A resident of Yekaterinburg turned out to be one of these clients and gained control over the account of a 54-year-old resident of Surgut. He issued a digital bank card in the name of the victim and then sold it for 10,000 rubles to unidentified persons who attempted to take an online loan of 70,000 rubles.
The fraudulent operation was blocked by the bank, as the citizen, the account owner, had set a self-ban on loans.
During searches at the suspects' residences, police seized about 20 mobile phones and bank cards. As a preventive measure, the resident of Yekaterinburg has been placed in custody. The former employee of the Multifunctional Center has been released under a travel ban.
Earlier, a lawyer explained why it is better not to throw documents with personal data in the trash.
