In Yekaterinburg, a 17-year-old teenager has been arrested for attempting to set fire to a transformer.
The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg on Friday, May 8, reviewed the investigator's petition for the selection of a preventive measure for a minor accused of attempting to commit sabotage, reports the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts.
The preliminary investigation authorities accuse the 17-year-old local resident under part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempt to commit sabotage").
According to the investigation, the teenager is involved in an attempt to set fire to a transformer at an electrical substation, which occurred in one of the districts of Yekaterinburg in April 2026.
The accused has been placed in custody until July 6, 2026. The court's ruling has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed by the parties within 3 days.
